Fly from London and all main regional airports from the UK to Dubrovnik Airport (DBV). Flight time is typically 2hrs 30 mins to 3 hrs. Transfer to Lopud takes around 1 hour.

Lopud offer a warm climate and enjoyed throughout the summer period. The shoulder months of May, early June, late September and October offer cheaper accommodation and lesser crowds.

You’ll soon understand why this stunning car-free island is so popular with couples and families wanting to get away from it all.

One of the island’s best features is its golden sandy beach (something of a rarity in Croatia), located on the east side of the island at Sunj Bay. It can be easily reaches by a 20 minute gentle stroll via the footpath from the island’s main village. Enjoy picnics, relaxing and swimming on this stretch of stunning coastline.

Day trip ideas

Neighbouring Island Hopping: Lopud is part of the Elaphiti archipelago. The other inhabited islands are Kolocep, a car-free island with two picture-postcard villages set around little bays and Sipan, the largest of these set of islands with traditional fishing villages. Both Kolocep and Sipan are on the ferry route from Dubrovnik to Lopud, which means you can easily visit it as a day trip from where you’re staying. mljet national park

Mljet National Park: A highly recommended day trip from Lopud, this large area includes two azure salt lakes, surrounded by pine forest. It’s a great place to explore by foot, bicycle and kayak. The waters are also very warm and clear, so having a dip is also highly recommended. Unfortunately there’s no public ferry from these two islands to Mljet that is suitable for a day trip, however the Lafodia on Lopud offers an excursion, which is highly recommended.

Dubrovnik: The ‘pearl of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik is the must-see place to visit whilst in Croatia. The old town, a UNESCO world heritage site, celebrated for its outstanding cultural and historical heritage boasts entire streets and buildings perfectly preserved to create an awe-inspiring Roman environment. Walk the city walls for excellent views of the Old Town and the Adriatic or perhaps ascend Mound Srd by cable car for more awe-inspiring views. Korcula: Renowned for being the reputed birthplace of Marco Polo, Korcula offers a rich history and excellent beaches. Its fascinating Old Town is of course a little smaller than Dubrovnik’s but is still a wonderful place to explore.
