Cavtat: A must do Day-Trip from Dubrovnik

With lush Mediterranean vegetation, crystal clear waters and a 7km promenade around a wooded peninsular, Cavtat it is definitely a ‘must’ to be visited whilst staying in Dubrovnik. Getting There

By bus: You can easily get to Cavtat by catching the number 10 bus from Dubrovnik Bus Terminal. The buses depart every 45 to 60 minutes and cost around 25kn (£3.00) each way, with the journey taking approximately 30 minutes. You can catch the same bus back to Dubrovnik from Cavtat bus station. Here you will find the local operator's bus timetable (Click on the "East" section).

By boat: Alternatively for a more scenic journey you can catch a small boat from the harbour in Dubrovnik’s Old Town to Cavtat. These cost around 60kn (£7) for a one way, ticket or 100 kn (£12) for a return. Children aged 5-12 have a 50% and children under 5 travel free. Duration is approximately 60 minutes and stops off at plat, Mlini and Srbreno. Timetable can be found here

By taxi: Journey by taxi is the quickest but of course the most expensive. A typical taxi should cost approximately 250kn (£30).Uber taxis are also a common sight in Dubrovnik and is likely to be cheaper than a standard taxi at approximately 200kn.

The Main Attractions

Explore the Old Town: Immerse yourself in the cultural and historic aspects of Cavtat. Cavtat was established two thousand years ago and the accumulated layers of history have thrown up cultural marvels worthy of investigation. The Renaissance Rector's Palace and the adjacent Baroque St Nicholas church are noted for their respective archaeological collection and impressive wooden alters.

Beaches and Swimming: Like in most places in Croatia, Cavtat beaches are glistening turquoise blue, clean and calm. It’s the perfect spot for families and couples to spend long days under the sun. The main beach is on Tiha bay, but there are a number of others in the near vicinity.
