Fly from London and most major regional airports from the UK to Pula Airport (PUY). Flight time is typically 2hrs 15mins to 2hrs 30mins. Transfer to Porec takes around 45 minutes.
Porec offers a warm climate and enjoyed throughout the summer period. The shoulder months of April, May, early June, late September and October offer cheaper accommodation and lesser crowds.
Most hotels are around a 15-20 minute walk from Porec's Old Town. Some hotels are located a couple of miles from the Old Town but there are regular buses, as well as water taxis, to take you to the centre.
The months of June, July and August are hot and usually hit 30 degrees. Early April and October is generally around 20 degrees.

Background to Porec: Located on the beautiful Istrian Coast, Porec is a town of culture, tourism, activity and entertainment. One thing is for certain, you won't be bored.
The delightful town and the surrounding area offer a plethora of interests and pursuits whatever your agenda. It’s also an excellent base to explore more of what this stunning region has to offer. This includes the nearby historical towns of Rovinj and Pula, the beautiful inner Istria with it’s Tuscanesque charm and last but by no means least Venice!
Explore the Old Town: A major tourist attraction is the stunning 6th century Euphrasian Basilica, a World Heritage Site, where the glittering mosaics draw in the visitors. Views of the old town from the belfry are worth the climb.
A series of side streets lead to Porec's main street: Decumanus, built by the Romans. Its polished cobbled stones take you past an array of classic Croatian cafes, ice cream parlours and boutiques.
Hit the Beach: The beaches in and around Porec are well maintained and many boast Blue Flag status, in fact over twenty in the Porec area have now earned this honour, a fifth of all in Croatia! With so many pine trees that line its shores you won’t have to worry about the midday sun. Most beaches here are pebble, rocky or cemented. The Town beach is a sure hit or you could hire a kayak or canoe and head a little further out to explore and relax at a less touristy spot.
Go Active: All sporting souls can find refuge here with classic and adrenalin sports including water-skiing and windsurfing. Excellent diving opportunities exist in and around the sandbanks of the area and at the nearby Coriolanus, a British Royal Navy warship that sank in 1945.
If you prefer to stick to dry land, the gentle rolling hills and well established bicycle trails are prime ways of exploring the region's interior.
Inner Istria: One of Croatia’s hidden gems, the region of Istria is very well known for its beautiful coastline including Rovinj, however away from the coast it is often overlooked. Hilltop towns, olive groves and vineyards give this area more of a Tuscan feel than Croatian. Visit the stunning town of Motovun, perched high up on a 227m hill, famous for its Venetian heritage, truffles and international film festival held in late July. Groznjan is another beautiful hilltop Istrian town, famous for its influx of artists.
Pula: The capital of the Istrian region, Pula's history goes back thousands of years, excelling in the Roman times, making it one of Istria's leading attractions. Roman ruins are dotted all around its centre, including the famous Ampitheatre, that held 23,000 people and is the second largest in the world, after that in Rome. The Trimphal Arch of Sergii and the Temple of August are other sites worth seeing. You can easily get to Pula, from Porec, by using one of the regular buses.
Rovinj: Coastal Istria’s star attraction, Rovinj, remains one of the last genuine fishing ports on the Mediterranean yet exudes a profusion of style and glamour. Wooded hills and the sparkling blue Adriatic form a backdrop to the old town’s peninsula, where terracotta roofed buildings and a maze of cobbled streets beg exploration. It’s easy to reach Rovinj from Porec with regular buses throughout the day. More information on Rovinj can be found here.
Venice: Yes, you’ve read correctly, you can visit one of Italy’s best known cities on a day trip from Pula. In the summer months a fast catamaran departs most days to Venice where you can bask in the splendour of the Grand Canal palaces. It is strongly advisable to book well in advance as it’s an extremely popular route for day trippers. The cost of a return is around £70 per adult and can be booked via the Venezia Lines website. Duration is 2 hours 45 minutes.
