We travel from St Pancras International by Eurostar to Paris in Standard Premier Class. We change trains and continue to Munich, for an overnight stay at the 4 star Maritim Hotel Berlin.
We continue our journey by First Class rail across beautiful Bavaria, through Austria and the mighty Alps into Slovenia. We arrive at the enchanting glacial Lake Bled where shimmering, turquoise waters await. Surrounded by forested slopes and the jagged summits of the Julian Alps, the lake has a majestic backdrop and is crowned by Bled Castle, which stands on a steep cliff face. We spend four nights at the 5 star Grand Hotel Toplice at Lake Bled.
Today you are free to explore the picturesque town of Bled and the surrounding area. One of the most popular options is to take a boat to the enchanting island near the lake's centre.
Day 4 -
Today takes us Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana, which boasts a wide range of architectural styles, from the Art Nouveau and Baroque of its medieval centre to the more modern architecture of the last 100 years. We enjoy a guided walking tour of its most famous sights. Afterwards, we head to the Postojna Caves by coach. We enter the labyrinth of caverns on a small electric railway before enjoying a walk through the larger caverns into the very heart of the underground cave system.
Day 5 -
We depart Bled travelling in Standard Class across the lush undulating scenery of Slovenia to Croatia’s capital; Zagreb. Wonderfully compact, the centre is split into the Upper and Lower Town. The city is easily explored on foot, and the architecture and style of the city give Zagreb the feel of an Imperial city. Dozens of museums and galleries rub shoulders with lively pavement cafes and restaurants. We stay in Zagreb for 3 nights.
Today we enjoy a guided tour of Zagreb, introducing us to sights such as the 14th century Gothic St Mark's Church (pictured) and the medieval Upper Town. We also see Kaptol, an urban complex of churches, palaces, museums and galleries.
