Located a few miles away from the bustling resort of Budva, is the altogether more tranquil village of Petrovac. Backed by a fusion of hillside shrubbery, flowers and pine trees and set between rocky coves, this fantastically pretty resort is the perfect location for a relaxed escape.
Petrovac beach is one of the many star attractions the village has to offer. Reddish in colour and fine pebble and rough sand in texture, it is indeed a fantastic location. Chill out in one of the many bars and cafes that back the beach, or sample fine seafood cuisine in the wide array of superb restaurants. Just under a mile from Petrovac is the equally impressive Buljarica beach.
One of the longest on the Montenegrin coast and enjoying a tranquil setting, it is backed by a vast expanse of wetland, containing canals and reed beds, making it an important site for migrating birds. One of the finest views of Buljarica and the Adriatic can be found from Gradiste Monastery. Perched at the foot of the Pelistice Mountain, three stunning churches are set amid sweeping lawns, olive and citrus tree, forming an impressive setting.
Petrovac is also an excellent location to discover the other treasures Montenegro has to offer. The nearby town of Budva is well worth a day out. The old town, sited on its own peninsula and Venetian in flair and character, hosts a pleasing selection of sights. Enclosed by a ring of fortifications, cobbled streets meander past numerous boutiques and cafes that subsequently lead south to Starogradski Square and the various imposing churches.
